Our very own Belinda Carlesso has been announced as a finalist in the Australian Law Awards 2019 for Legal Support Professional of the Year. It’s about time there was some official recognition for Belinda’s outstanding behind-the-scenes contribution. Here at BlueRock, we couldn’t be prouder.
Loyalty is the strongest glue
Belinda has stuck with Managing Director of BlueRock Law, Bruce McFarlane, for 15 years. It’s a level of commitment that deserves celebration. When Bruce decided to make the move from partner at a traditional law firm to BlueRock Law, Belinda also took a leap of faith. It was a brave move but that’s Belinda. She always rises to the challenge.
A champion of the BlueRock culture
Bruce is an ideas man with an incredible energy for his vision and work. Belinda is the person who makes these ideas a reality, dealing with the practicalities of creating the unique BlueRock Law culture. It’s not enough to pay lip service to a people-first workplace – someone has to make sure all the strategies that support an employee-centric law firm are implemented. That’s where Belinda comes in.
Belinda coordinates the social events, team-bonding activities and celebrations. There’s always cake! Just as well she can organise you a free gym membership because you might need to burn off some extra calories.
At BlueRock, we’re interested in your life outside of work. It’s Belinda who coordinates the bi-weekly huddles where BlueRockers have the opportunity to share their personal news and provide client and investor updates.
BlueRock Law offers a raft of flexible workplace options and parental support. Belinda mobilises the infrastructure to make working from home a realistic choice and helps our mums transition back to work. Stuck for a babysitter or can’t organise childcare? Don’t worry, Belinda will sort it out.
Dedicated to exceptional client service
But Belinda is so much more than this. She is business savvy and dedicated to improving the lives of BlueRock employees and client outcomes by using technology and refining systems and standardised processes. Sounds complicated (we won’t bore you with the details) but it means less paperwork and greater efficiency, which translates into a win for the environment and our clients’ hip pocket.
At BlueRock, the lawyers build great relationships with their clients and the focus is on providing great service. Let’s face it, the engagement and billing process is not always front of mind. Luckily, they now have Belinda to make sure the bills get paid and there’s cash in the bank. This means our lawyers can do what they do best: produce quality work and manage client relationships. Happy lawyers, happy clients and greater engagement on both sides.
Happy lawyers. It’s not an oxymoron
At BlueRock Law, we’re making it a reality and it’s not coming at the cost of happy clients. In 2019, we were voted the 4th Best Place to Work (under 1000 employees). It’s one of our greatest achievements. At the same time, we made it into the Financial Review Fast 100, proving that financial growth doesn’t mean sacrificing employee wellbeing. We have people like Belinda to thank for that – people who genuinely care about our BlueRockers. In a non-hierarchical model, it’s only fitting that Belinda, who represents the beating heart of BlueRock, is a Law Award finalist.
Head-hunters, don’t bother
It’s not the BlueRock way. We’re creating the law firm of the future, where we’re all striving for the same financial and socially responsible goals. While we’re in awe of Belinda’s business acumen, fierce intelligence and strength of character, what we value most are the attributes that other firms tend to overlook, rather than celebrate. Fortunately for us, one of those attributes is loyalty.
Belinda is an invaluable and highly respected member of the BlueRock family. We are privileged to have her as part of our team. Congratulations Belinda and best of luck.
