BlueRock Celebrates B Corp Month!

Sometimes it's hard to know which organisations are making the world a better place, and which ones aren't. Certified B Corporations are companies who use their business as a force for good - they make decisions that positively serve the community, their employees and consumers, and the environment around them.

Why is BlueRock a Certified B Corporation?

Ever seen something you didn’t like? Have you ever had that feeling that something is just not right. That niggling, annoying, buzzing feeling that you should and can do more?

B-Corp has helped BlueRock scratch that itch.

Since our humble beginnings in 2008, we have grown to a community of more than 200 engaged, inspiring and passionate BlueRockers who help us to use our business as a force for good. As a growing entrepreneurial firm, we aren’t driven by numbers. Instead, we see value in balancing our company’s purpose and profit, and in helping our clients to do the same.

We love our work and understand the importance of creating a great workplace that attracts and retains the best clients and team members. One of our key values is to give back to the community – something we do through our Be BlueRock Foundation .

3 years ago, this focus on people and community led our Founder and Chief Entrepreneur, Peter Lalor, to explore what more BlueRock could do to have a positive impact on the world around us. “I wanted a way for our business to support a sustainable and healthy planet,” Peter said. “At BlueRock, we aim to be different – B Corp is one of the great ways we can achieve this while being part of an awesome community of future-focused businesses.”

In honour of B Corp Month, we’re focussing on all the things we’re proud to celebrate as a business committed to our communities – including being Great Place to Work certified once again in 2021 , going through our latest assessment process to be a Certified B Corporation for the next 3 years, and overcoming the trials and tribulations that came with the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to the support of our wonderful team and clients.

What Does it Take to Be a B Corp Company?

Certified B Corporations are companies just like ours who use their business as a force for good. They make decisions that benefit not only their employees and consumers but also the wider community and the environment around them.

In order to be recognised as a Certified B Corporation, companies must be operational for a minimum of 12 months and undergo a B Impact Assessment. This assessment evaluates how a company’s operations and business models impact their workers, the surrounding community and environment, and their customers. Certifications are valid for 3 years and entitle certified B Corps to proudly display the B Corp Seal. Displaying the B Corp Seal lets consumers know that they’re supporting a company that uses their business as a force for good.

Why Does B Corp Matter To Us?

We also partner and work with like-minded clients. As a Certified B Corp, it’s important to us that the people we work with share similar values and have a similar passion to serve the community and our planet. Clients like Who Gives a Crap and Cube Group are businesses who focus on the future of not only their company but the wider community; through initiatives like building toilets in vulnerable communities, and providing educational programs and services for those who need it most.

We’re proud to have been a Certified B Corporation for the past 3 years and are looking forward to continuing to operate as a business that uses our power to solve social and environmental problems for years to come.
